A brief history of the shop from the book “Cameron’s Inn”…
John, a local Anglophile, had opened up a small British import store called The Village Shop. He carried foodstuff from England such as mushy peas, treacle puds, marmalades and teas. My Dad was one of his best customers.
Following lease problems and high overhead, John was selling out and we were the perfect candidates for his remaining merchandise. We all piled into the truck and went in to check out the shop, my Dad humming some English ditty with a wild gleam in his eye.
What awaited us was a detailed inventory of every can and crunchy in the place — all at a discounted price. The deal came complete with a small freezer.
